Job Description
The Switchgear Specialist is responsible for driving opportunities, sales, and support of various electric projects utilizing switchgear. Coordination with leadership, team members, manufacturers, manufacturer reps, and customers across the Houston and the Southern Region. Qualified individuals for this role will have experience with various types of LV and MV switchgear including AIS, GIS, and Solid Dielectric. The Switchgear Specialist oversees opportunity development, project tracking, deal closing, and project support during construction. This will include interaction with engineering firms and various end users including industrial, utility, and EPC firms depending on the sales channel. A qualified candidate will display strong commercial skills in addition to the ability to provide and facilitate technical product support.
Key Roles and Responsibilities Switchgear Technical Support:
• Maintain strong relationships with switchgear manufacturers to aid in the end user support.
• Keen understanding of the switchgear application to provide specification guidance to engineers and end users.
• Monitor market trends and product innovations available in the marketplace by attending various tradeshows in the US annually.
Opportunity Development, Tracking, and Closing:
• Maintain key relationships to track opportunities long before they go out to bid.
• Become a trusted resource to engineers in the switchgear specification process depending on the application.
• Track and report opportunities until successful close.
Collaboration with Sales Team:
• Partner with Techline’s Senior Leadership, Account Management, Substation Packaging Group, and Project Management teams to align closing successful opportunities.
• Act as the primary escalation point for switchgear opportunities throughout the company.
• Also, drive key sales opportunities individually at the same time as collaborating with the Techline Sales Team.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the sales team in regard to switchgear opportunities.
Project Support:
• Product application support does not end after the sale. Maintain tracking of sold projects until successful energization and handoff.
• Monitoring switchgear delivery to insure successful project timelines for the end user.
• Ensure each project will be a successful reference for future clients.
Manufacturer Relationship Management and Continuing Education:
• Proactively maintain constant communications with Manufacturers to maximize opportunities in the marketplace.
• Regularly attend factory trainings and online education opportunities to maintain current knowledge of product application and operating requirements.
• Continually function as a trusted resource for manufacturers, engineers, and end users in the marketplace
Other Requirements:
• Travel required for 25% to 50% of the time.
• Work location is flexible but regular attendance to Techline offices is required including on demand meetings with limited notice
• Adhere to current operational procedures and maintain a safe work environment
• Achieve successful outcomes without daily supervision.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Experience
• Display self-awareness and a natural curiosity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. This includes the ability to create and conduct invigorating presentations with the client and Techline sales team.
Education
Completion of a 4-year technical college degree or equivalent work experience
